bios

help i cant find d advance settings in my bios menu

My laptop doesn't detect my battery and turns on by itself

I've had my HP ENVY dv4 for almost 4 years and now it has its first mayor problem, it doesn't turn off and it won't detect the battery. Now here's the problem, it still runs even though it won't detect the battery. I can't turn it off because then it turns on seconds after. This problem appeared today and it's frustrating me not being able to fix my laptop. Last time I used it was Thursday and I had it without its battery so it wouldn't damage, then I turned it off and put the battery back. After that I left for a trip and when I returned today, my laptop displayed this problem.

Selected Boot Image Did Not Authenticate? HELP!

Okay, so I got my laptop Christmas 2014, and it has done me well for these two years. Thursday, I accidentally dropped it on its bottom, and I didn't touch since Saturday afternoon. It said "Selected boot image did not Authenticate. Press <Enter> to continue" and I tried everything; took the battery out, hard reset, let the battery run out, charge it all the way, and the like.

It will not do anything but come to the same message, and I don't have the money to buy another one or have it fixed. Is there anyway I can possibly fix it on my own before next Sunday [4/3/16]? Because after that, I really need it

BOOTMGR is missing on startup

Hi,
I lost the hidden Win 7 pro 64 bits start partition of my Elitebook 840 G2 and now my laptop won't boot from its SSD. I get a bootmgr missing error.

1) I tried to repair Win 7 with the same HP DVD I used to install my G2 but I get an error (different version). Guess it's because I'd applied the latest updates to Win 7 in the meantime. So I could only have done a clean install with this HP DVD.

2) I have a very recent system backup made with Acronis WD Edition but it didn't pick up the hidden partition. So if I recover from it, my SSD won't boot either (I tried it on an empty HD). Is there any way to rebuild this partition before recovering the backed-up system?

3) As last option, I reluctantly tried to update my SSD system to Win 10 pro 64 bits but again I could only do a clean install since upgrade seems to require a bootable system.

So what can I do to try and boot from my current Win 7 install. Even temporarily before I have time to do a clean update to Win 10 pro 64 bits. I have a data backup but forgot to export my neatly sorted out 1000+ bookmarks which I'd very much like to recoup. I also fear that my banking application might not be compatible with Win 10 and I have to send payments by March 31st at the latest.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

HP Pavilion ze5615SR BIOS replacement

HP Pavilion ze5615sr notebook BIOS replacement

I have an HP Pavilion ze5615sr notebook which is need of a proper BIOS. My daughter had updated
it a few years ago (I forgot I even owned the notebook till last week). I tried to enter into
Safe Mode, but it always gets stuck.

I have a BIOS which I was going to update myself back when. Not sure if it's correct nor if it
will bring back my system.

BIOS: sp28116.exe (809Kb) File version: 4.0.100.1189

Award Flash Utility: sp28200.exe (1,591Kb) File version: 4.0.100.1189

Right now, every light on the PC is lit and cannot flip the wireless light out. I'm not sure to
begin troubleshooting other than trying to reset the BIOS. I have the Recovery and Windows XP Home
discs. Maybe you can point me in the right direction.

Want to reuse this long lost friend for classroom project.

Thank you.

Netbook Charge

When the laptop is charged to 100% what  does the charger do.  Does it  shut off or does it try to keep charging the battery.  I ask because I like to keep my laptop pluged in and I worry about the battery if the charger it tries to overcharge it.  Thanks in advance for any information.

Error code: 0xc0000185

So yesterday, I accidentally slammed my fist right next to the keyboard. A few minutes later, my laptop was running slow and when I was going to shut it down, it froze while it made a buzzing sound, so I force shut it down. When I turned it back on, the screen was black for a few seconds and went to the HP logo with "Preparing Automatic Repair" under it while the laptop was buzzing again.

It then proceeded to a blue screen that said:

Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.

Error code: 0xc0000185

I try to restart, but it goes back to the screen. I try to system restore, but it still goes to the screen. After 30 seconds it turns off while it makes a very quiet but high pitched sound.

I do not have a Windows 8 installation disk, as it was already installed. And I did not make a recovery disk or USB, but I did have an application that says RECOVERY, I don't think I can use it since it's in Windows.

I think the hard drive may be broken, but I don't want to lose any data that's on it. Anyways, your help is very appreciated.

blank screen and no auto power off after leds blinking twice

Ok I left the pc in bios for a long while ( i had used esc followed by f9 at bootup time ). I didn't wamt to boot into OS. Just wanted pc to power on. Wanted it to charge my mobile via usb, which it was doing of course.
Now What I did is I left the notebook in that state only and without Ac powe, i.e. on battery. In the morning i wake up and the notebook won't boot up.

When i press power button, the led on caps lock and the one on wifi blinks twice and then laptop powers off !!! I figured its an issue with bios corruption.

I have tried to discharge the capacitors by removing all power sources, peripheral and pressing power button for 60 secs, putting power back on and hoping for the miracle but it didn't work. Nor did using windows and 'B' combination while pressing power for bios update work...

What should I do? What kinda notebook just goes haywire like that, just cz it was on battery, was in bios and battery died. Plz help me out asap. My laptop has some seriously important and urgent data on it as well. Image may be NSFW.

Issues Updating BIOS

I have a HP Pavilion G7 which recently had a bad encounter with a "spill".  It would not turn on at all.  I replaced the motherboard and keyboard.  Now it does turn on but it will not boot to Windows.  Looking in the BIOS, I realized the version is extremely old and it lacks certain fuctionality such as Legacy and UEFI booting choices.  I'm looking for a way to flash the BIOS with a current version but so far haven't found a solution that would work in my case.  Is there any way to make a bootable media with the BIOS version I want to use and flash the BIOS on this HP Pavilion?  I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

Other things to note.  I did remove the hard drive and run check disk on it and it has no problems.  When I boot to a Windows install disk on the HP with the original drive installed, I can navigate to the drive through command prompt and see that the Windows installation is intact.  The drive is set up for GPT, and since the BIOS has limited booting options, I arrived at the conclusion that the BIOS just needs to be flashed.  Thanks for your time.
