Laptop not turning on

I've juts spilled some water on my laptop and it went off directly . I quickly unplugged the charger and tried to force stop the laptop but it wouldn't work. However the green power button stayed on (although dim) for a good couple minute. Tried to dry as much of the liquid that was on the surface and turned the laptop upside down to dry a little more as some seeped out of the keyboard.

I've left it to dry for a couple hours and now whenever I tried to turn the laptop on the power LED on the side turns on for 5 seconds with a pause of 3 seconds.

- What does the blink mean?

- Is there anyway I personally could fix it?

- Unfortunately my warranty has expired, so if I can't fix it myself and have to get it repaired, how much would it cost? Or is it done and would be better to get a new one.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hp notebook turns off without adapter power

Hello!

HP 240 G5 laptop was working fine for more than a year since purchased it. After the warranty got expired, issue arised. If adapter is unplugged, hp notebook turns off without any notification eventhough the 🔋 icon shows 90% charge.

I tried all the basic troubleshooting steps before i reached this hp community.

*Tried hard resetting(power)

* HP PC hardware diagnostics test results show battery check is passed.

*HP PC hardware diagnostics UEFI (F2 key) memory test and hard drive quick check is passed. When extensive hard drive check is done with adapter being unplugged, the notebook turns off.

Is their any other test to check the battery life? Or else replacing new battery is the only option left.!

Pls suggest.

Thanks.

Hello, big problem here. Windows 10 November update failed, no response after hours. Tried recovery with F11, several options, but all of them end in a black screen. No response from laptop. From the startup I did a systems check, all of that was oké, processor l, memory, ssd etc. Now I started from a cd with gparted installed on it. The ssd looks like in the image. What can I safely format without loosing the recovery partition?

many thanks.

Unknown password following a BIOS update

Hello everyone !

As explained above, I just received an HP ZBook G6, a replacement PC due to another defective machine.

I received it today. It was working fine until I updated the BIOS. I was able to test some software and update most of the things HP Support advised me to do, including the BIOS.

I used HP Sure Click and HP Client Security Manager application to protect my data as much as possible (Windows session, Pin code and even facial recognition. So far, everything was working fine).

Until I restarted the PC after updating the BIOS and other peripherals. This one asks me for a password. Gullible, so I put the passwords I previously set up with the HP security application. None of these passwords work.

By simple deduction, and because I have never entered a specific password for the BIOS, I have tried several times, in upper case, lower case, AZERTY, QWERTY, etc the passwords and variations I use. Unable to access the PC! The PC is not even 48 hours old, this is unacceptable. 😞

At the beginning, I questioned myself a lot, thinking but it's not possible, I just got the PC and how can I forget a password so quickly (knowing that I have a "general" password with several variations. So I didn't create a specific password)µ

I have read that HP used to provide a way to remove this password, and by a change in policy, this is no longer possible and it is desired that the user pays. I don't find that normal. I'm writing this topic to get your feedback (I'm well aware that HP's policy change does not allow its forum users to bypass this system. But you never know...

I'm going to contact the online chat, hoping to find answers :/)
I could see that several people were in my case, I don't know if it's a recent problem with the BIOS Update.

Thank you very much,

Alexis J.

Pavillion Laptop will not boot into BIOS - Cap Lock and Numeric Lock blinking slowly (continously).

I have an older G7-1219WM Win7 laptop that went dead during sleep mode, (battery may have died).  When applying power and trying to boot up, it comes up with a blank screen and the Cap Lock and Numeric Lock keys are both blinking slowly (continuous). I've read through the various help forums and tried the common BIOS recovery steps, CMOS reset, etc. but no success. Same symptom.

The next step, before I give up and recycle the hardware, I want to try manually recovering the BIOS using a USB flash drive.  Unfortunately I've encountered two different errors running the HP utility SP92875.exe to create the USB recovery drive regarding compatibility with my HP Pavilion tower/Win10.  So I am stuck at this point.

Any suggestions from the group?

thx..

Envy 17-u273cl - Replaced Battery now system will not boot

$

I purchased a replacement battery from Amazon.  I replaced the battery but, after powering the notebook up, all I get is a black/blank screen.  The power button is lit and the AC plug appears to be working because it lights the charging light on the side of the notebook.

After trying unsuccessfully to get the notebook to power up, I re-installed the previous battery and the system booted as expected (it did warn about CMOS something or other but then booted fine.)

Any ideas?  Is there something in the BIOS that might need to be tweaked?
