laptop freezes at password screen

I just purchased this laptop and there is almost nothing on it, but when it boots up it seems to freeze around the windows password screen. It does not freeze immediately. It seems to freeze after a few seconds. For example if I leave it and do nothing, it will be completely locked, but if I immediately attempt to enter the pin, then I can get as far as entering the pin and it will freeze as it loads and says welcome. 

 

I have tried resetting it numerous times. 

I've tried startup repair and it failed. 

 

Hoping there is a relatively easy fix.

bios admin password

Upon entering a random password or just a space/blank you get a halt code, mine is [i 78513539] entering the number on bios-pw.org doesnt do me any good for this computer which is unreal, ive never gotten a password that didnt work before. Any solutions available for this system disabled code?

Hi, my pc won't  start just blinks once on the ' f12' key whenever  I try to turn on my pc on the power button. My pc is Hewlett-Packard  Windows 8.1.

My wife forgot her password and I go to look at her laptop and turn it on and a blue box asking for an administrator password or power on password?? What does that mean ended up with a system disabled code!! [ i 52289501] how do I get past this issue? Thankyou

Laptop shutting down randomly

My Laptop ProBook 470 G0 started acting weirdly over the past months.

I have no idea if I am the only one who is facing this problem but; The problem is when I try to boot into my operating system, the laptop shuts down and restarts again and it goes in a loop that never ends (left it for 7 hours to figure that out).

I also have no clue why is that even happening, oh wait let me tell you a list of all the things I tried:

  • Running on safe mode works, but sometimes it shuts down at no specific time.
  • I changed the thermal paste, thought it may be the problem.
  • I have no overheating issues, the laptop fan is working properly and temperatures are not as high as they may be considered overheating, plus I have an external fan.
  • I tried installing pretty much Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, even Linux Ubuntu; With obviously no results.
  • The AC adapter is working perfectly fine alongside with the electricity.
  • Running the laptop on battery does the same thing, but more intensely.
  • I removed the hard drive, and I tried running a media installation tool of Ubuntu in my USB drive, it even shuts down there, which means Hard Drive is not the issue.
  • RAM is installed correctly.

Here are the specs of the laptop:

  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M
  • Processor Speed: 2.60Ghz
  • Graphic Card: AMD Radeon(TM) HD 8750M Series
  • Memory: 4GB
  • HDD: 700GB

Resetting BIOS Password

Thank you for reading my post.  I have an HP 6570b.  I forgot my BIOS password and need to reset it.  I called HP Support and asked if they could provide me with an smc.bin file.  I guess policies regarding BIOS password resets have changed.  They told me that they are not able to help me by providing an smc.bin file.  Is anyone out there in possession of this highly coveted file that helps with BIOS password resets?

 

I found the instructions on what to do with smc.bin when I get it.  Reo at one time had the file in his DropBox account, but that link is no longer working, and I believe he is no longer a part of this community.

Won't get to Windows 10

When starting up my laptop, I see the HP loading screen as usual. After a while the computer restarts and this time I see "Preparing the automatic reparation" (translated from french). This of course fails and after a while I'm greated to a black screen (although the screen is still open). It used to open the recovery menu instead, but for some reason that stopped working too. No error messages of any kind. This happened after restarting my computer on December 23rd. The restart happened during the same session I installed a BIOS/UEFI update through the HP client, and I strongly suspect that that is the cause. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 didn't work, since the Windows+B/Windows+V thing didn't do anything. Maybe I'm not holding it long enough? I held it for at least a minute.

I hope I posted this in the right section. Not sure if I was supposed to ask this here or in Notebook Operating System and Recovery

Envy laptop. Error 301.

On bootup, it gives error 301--smart hard disk error.

When I continue bootup, it says -- no bootable device.

When I do hard drive quick test, it says Smart check not installed.

 

Any suggestions?

Laptop does not boot-up

My HP17" laptop will not boot up, run UEFI diagnostics, it passed "Smart Check", failed "Short DST", the failure ID is:

"UBQFL8-98RA04-MFGJ3F-60XG03". The warranty just passed a couple of months ago. Could someone help me, and let me know how can I replace the hard disk? Do I need a boot-up disk with Windows'10 recovery system? unfortunately I did not make the back up disk before, thank you in advance for any help you may provide here! Jim
