This notebook, a gift to my wife, suddenly will not power on.   Pushing the on button does nothing.  When the power adapter is plugged into the notebook the blue light is on so the adapter is working.  I've tried pressing the ON button with the adapter attached, and without.  I've held the ON button for over 10 seconds.  I've pressed the ON and the volume up for over 10 seconds.  I've pressed the ON and the volume down for over 10 seconds.  There are no other buttons on this device.

 

I took it to a local laptop repair facility.  They would not work on it because it is a sealed unit with no obvious way to remove the battery or reset the device.

 

I believe it was purchased, from the HP online store, in late 2013 or early 2014 but without the serial number I cannot check the warranty status.

 

As a 35 year retiree with truly fond memories of HP I am surprised at how hard it is to get simple support.  The support page will not let you get past entering a serial number and this is the first HP device of any kind I have ever seen that does not have the standard HP label on it.  To get support I need the serial number.  To get the serial number I need to power it up.  To power it up I need support.  I detect a loop.

Hi, I just recently installed an AMD update using their driver software update tool, and as soon as it restarted post update my laptop has gone to the boot screen with the HP logo and small loading icon, loads for a minute, disapears then reloads the load screen but completely frozen, can anyone help me fix this!?

I replaced my old hard drive with a SSD. However, I am unable to go through the steps to install windows.

Once I start the laptop, I can see the following : " primary ( internal ) battery 601 .

When hitting esc to get to startup menu, I get nothing but hp logo and black screen.

So I took the following steps:

• bought a new external battery
• bought and replaced the Rtc battery

Then restarted the laptop, This is what I saw :

• cmos incompatible, a configuration reset is needed, hit enter
• Once I do, I get the same msg primary ( internal) battery 601
• same difficulty : cannot access start-up, nor boot up options

By the way, I don't have any manufacturer warranty.

What is next?

ELitebook will not power on while the battery is installed. When pressing the ON button the charging LED will blink 8 times. When I remove the battery and unplug the adaptor, AND after I hold the ON button down for several seconds THEN plug in the adaptor without the battery installed the laptop will  boot normally.

Have a pavilion 15t, not even 1 year old, turned it off yesterday night won't start back up. Have tried to hard reboot. No caps lock flashing lights but power light is orange with battery plugged in adapter plugged in, blue/white without battery plugged in with adapter plugged in only. Start button doesn't cause fans to turn on or anything.

My hp pc was working good until my last time but at this time when i was trying to turn it on it jst showing "hp" Logo and loading symbol. Then i try to dignose and start the hard drive test it failed at 9%  each and every time when i have tried, with following message,

Windows8 Pro laptop wont start and just cycles on and off every few seconds.  Removed battery and AC and held power button for 30 seconds, replace AC and battery with same results.  Never boots long enough to get any screen info. Ideas?

I bought this notebook as a xmas present for my son. It's had limited use and 2 weeks ago it shut off for no reason. I charged it and it came back on then switched off after 10 mins. Then it won't switch on. It shuts down after 2 or 3 seconds. Eventually it does switch on after repeatedly trying but shuts down after a few minutes. How can I replace this unit under warranty?

i Was working with SPSS 20.0 when i had to stepout for a short meeting. My Hp 15-d020dx notebook (Energy star) battery went completely dead after I returned. i tried to charge it after some time. The battery was charging normally with battery light just by the AC adapter port working on. i tried to start the computer while the battery was charging. the computer won't start. i tried serveral times and it is till stone cold. however, when i press the power button, the power light just by the hard disk light on the right side of the computer comes on for some seconds but goes off again. i tried the hard resert by removing the batter and it still can't come on. mean while the computer has power supply and now the battery is fully charged. can anybody help, i beg

I can hardly believe it.  I just replaced the motherboard because of possibly the same issue, and it has happened again.  After using the BIOS setup to successfully turn off "Secure Boot" and turn on "Legacy Boot" (to get a  Windows 7 dual-boot install to start again), all was good.  Windows 8.1 would start, as would Windows 7.  My problem began (again?) when I chose to check the BIOS version in BIOS setup, opening it with F10.  There I could see it and make changes to other BIOS functions as usual, but I didn't.  Instead, I just wanted to "Exit without saving changes", which I chose to do.  It seemingly restarted with a backlit screen that was black.  It went no further, so after waiting a minute, I forced it off by holding the power button.  From then on, when turning it on, I am presented with a blank screen with no boot at all (no beeps or OS audio) and just a  blank (unlit backlight) screen.  So far, no amount of HP_TOOLS flash drive BIOS recovery boots with the combination windows/Super-key and B held down, has done the trick.  Using that trick, I see the flash drive LED flicker a bit when starting (about 5 seconds) and then it just stays lit solid.  From that pont, I've tried waiting more than ten minutes before forcing it off with the power button held.  I've also tried that after clearing the CMOS by unplugging the CR2032 battery for minutes at a time.  The flash drive's LED does not even flicker if I'm not holding the windows/Super + B key combination.  I've even tried replacing the processor, but I know it's the BIOS or motherboard, because replacing the motherboard before fixed it.  Does anyone have any other suggestions as I can't believe it's meant to brick under such a simple condition as exiting BIOS setup without saving changes?

Ciao forum.  Ho questo portatile HP Pavilion DV7-3004el. Dal 2010 non mia mai dato problemi. Anzi qualche mese fa sia fermata la ventola,e ho dovuto sostituire con una nuova.  Prima di poter cambiare la ventola il computer sia fermato circa 8 volte  per surriscaldamento del processore. 

Adesso ho spento come da manuale la sera e quando l'ho riacceso ho lo schermo nero.

1-Tutti i tasti multimediali sono illuminati

2-La ventola gira normale

3-L'hard disk funziona 

4-L'unità ottica funziona

Ma quando lo accendo il led caps/lock e block/num  fanno un solo lampeggio e poi niente ???

Sul sito della hp il significato dei lampeggi dice che e la CPU.

1 lampeggio --cpu

2 lampeggi--bios

E mai possibile che si sia bruciato il processore ???  Aiuto . Chiedo aiuto a voi signore e signori che magari siete più esperti.
