This notebook, a gift to my wife, suddenly will not power on. Pushing the on button does nothing. When the power adapter is plugged into the notebook the blue light is on so the adapter is working. I've tried pressing the ON button with the adapter attached, and without. I've held the ON button for over 10 seconds. I've pressed the ON and the volume up for over 10 seconds. I've pressed the ON and the volume down for over 10 seconds. There are no other buttons on this device.
I took it to a local laptop repair facility. They would not work on it because it is a sealed unit with no obvious way to remove the battery or reset the device.
I believe it was purchased, from the HP online store, in late 2013 or early 2014 but without the serial number I cannot check the warranty status.
As a 35 year retiree with truly fond memories of HP I am surprised at how hard it is to get simple support. The support page will not let you get past entering a serial number and this is the first HP device of any kind I have ever seen that does not have the standard HP label on it. To get support I need the serial number. To get the serial number I need to power it up. To power it up I need support. I detect a loop.
