HP Pavilion g7

This lapt top has shut down at its own will since I received it for the most part, which has been a couple of years now.  I didn't notice the problem until I got all of my business email and everything set up and at that point I just couldn't afford to be without it.  It seemed to be triggered mostly by when i was moving about a web page with images quickly (my thought was the graphic processor).  More often when I would first turn it on or open the screen (which sounds like a common error for this model).  I did realize that when it was unplugged this kept it from shutting down, but as soon as I had to plug it in within minutes it would shut down.  I used it this way for the last year or so, but then received an error message that the battery is now shot.  My guess is it is a heat issue as others have mentioned because on occassion the fan would kick in and run for a day or so and then I would have no issues at all until it cut off then it was back to the usual.

I have seen some diagnostic suggestions in other posts, but the trouble shoot directions did not exactly line up and also did not produce any detections.

What is the best thing to do with this?  It doesn't seem to make sense to put money into it if it can't be corrected economically.

Thank you,

Erika
