HP dv7 shuts off 1sec after powering on
Greetings,
I have had my dv7-2185dx for many many years and my battery doesnt hold a charge because I never took it out when plugged in (I never unplugged it, i used it like a desktop). My problem though is that when I power on my laptop, it instantly shuts off, before anything can even appear on the screen.
My charger is working because there is a light on the laptop that turns on when the power cable is in. and when its off and plugged in, the lighting bolt, charging light blinks.
My laptop is cool and not hot, because I havent been able to turn it on in a week.
I did try unplug and drain the battery by holding for 15secs but still shuts off instantly
normally i can still run my laptop plugged in with no battery, but no I cant turn it on.
One thing i noticed different, is when I plug in my power cable, the light turns on, then turns off, then turns back on and stays on. when my laptop shuts off, the charge light shuts off, then comes back on.
I also bought a new charger, but for some reason, when I plug it in, the light turn on, then turns off and stays OFF. so strange
any idea what it could be?

Hello I'm having a simular problem except no response at all. Plugged in or not, no lights no noise. Nothing help I use this computer every day for schoolwork it was working fine Friday afternoon in class then Saturday evening it wouldn't even turn on at all!! HELP please!

UEFI vs BIOS firmware
my laptops model number is HP 15-au009tx
my computer boots into uefi mode as my disk is gpt style.
but when i press escape during the startup i get the option to alter my bios settings.
When my laptop supports the successor of bios and more feature rich uefi why does it also have the traditional bios?
If The laptop uses uefi to boot than what is the need of the bios firmware and a menu to alter it?
Can't we have uefi alone (as bios is a technology of the olden days) that will work to boot up the computer?

Battry Power Light on, PC wont start
After un packing the brand new probook, and completeing the intial setup wizard i have placed it with out use for one week.
When i tried to power on the computer wont start and the Battry or power light shows an amber light on that lights in constantly when power cable is pluged in and blinks together with power and wifi light when power button is pressed.
Your kind assistance is very much appreciated.

Laptop occasionally gives 'selected boot device failed' message on startup, but not always
I've been having a particularly odd error with my laptop and it is beginning to bother me.
I purchased a HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ak113na back in early August. It's been absolutely fine up until a couple weeks ago.
From time to time when turning on the laptop instead of proceeding to the HP logo and then booting up, it will instead stay black for around a minute before displaying the 'The selected boot device failed. Press <Enter> to continue' message. The bizarre thing is that if I turn the laptop off and back on, eventually it will successfully boot - even if I get the message one or two times more.
It doesn't happen all too often - I'd say no more than in about 20% of times I try to boot - but I cannot work out what exactly is happening.
The laptop also occasionally turns on in the middle of the night - at exactly 00:27 each time. I presume there's some kind of scheduled thing occuring at this time, but no matter how much I snoop through control panel I cannot find a reason for this. It also appears that the boot device failure seems to go hand in hand with this as it seems to have a higher chance of happening the morning after it's turned itself on in the night, but I'm not sure if this is actually the case or if it's just my brain lumping these two strange things together.
I have done virus scans, reset the boot order, and I always ensure I have no discs in the DVD/CD ROM drive nor USB peripherals plugged in whilst attempting to boot. Nothing has had any effect, and I can't find anyone who's had a similar experience, and I'm starting to get worried.

Hp Pavilion 15-an001na. Charger plugged in but not charging
Hi,
I have just purchased a brand new laptop (HP Pavilion 15-an001na). However I can not charge it. i can only use it with the AC adaptor plugged into it.
At the bottom of the screen it says 'charger plugged in but not charging'
This is really inconvientant, has anyone came across this issue before?
And/or has a solution?

disabled keyboard on startup
On boot-up, my HP ENVY 15x360 PC's keyboard is sometimes (not always) 'dead'. I am unable to type in my password to logon to windows 10. Restarting has always resolved the issue. The mouse works, and the passwor field accepts the cursor.
What's going on?

HP update
My HP laptop downloaded some update a few hours ago, installed the update and told me not to switch off or unplug while the update was being installed. Now I just have a screen with HP logo. I have now unplugged and restarted my laptop but I only get the hp screen. Computer does not boot up. It does nothing. What can I do. I have unplugged and taken out the battery. Still does not boot up. Please help.

HP LAPTOP POWERS UP BUT ONLY DISPLAYS A BLANK SCREEN WITH HP LOGO IN THE CENTRE.
