Laptop not turning on, Caps lock blinking, F12 light is on

I have a hp envy 4-1212tu. It's battery was gone for a month, with the ac adapter with no battery backup. Suddenly today, it wasn't turning on. The CAPS LOCK button was blinking and f12 (aeroplane mode button) was red. I went through some archives of ho community help, and sone youtube channels. Blown the vents several times to remove any dust, tried to turn on, didn't work.

 

Then I found in an archived hp community post that pressing escape key will take it to HP menu. I went there, started extensive hard disk check, it passed the initial smart check. While the extensive test was on for 5 minutes, I aborted the test and my laptop turned on.

 

I'm scared about the laptop not turning on again. I'm a University faculty and have to take online classes. Also taking it to a repair shop now is very risky due to Covid-19 situation here.

 

I want2know what could be the reason that my laptop wasn't turning on?

What did I do that it turned on afterwards?

my hp stream 14 laptop does not let me log in or connect to the WiFi. No I did not change the password, it has been the same since I first got it 3yrs ago. I have tried the reset pc by continuously tap f11, but when I choose to reset and delete all data it always comes back “error resetting” or something like that. I have tried using the command prompt as well and following YouTube step by step but that also does not work. I did the system diagnostic test in which it said it passed. I am just a 17yr old who needs her computer to do important school work and is looking for any help to fix this problem. I do not know much about computer so watching YouTube was the best I could do. Pls help in layman terms or send a link that I could follow easily. Need my computer working ASAP

When i start my computer then it’s show me this error “No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed”

but I little worried because when i turn off then turn it on and it’s work sometimes

Hallo, mein Laptop hat das Problem das er beim starten die Tab Taste blinkt.

Erst 5 Mal kurz dann 4 Mal schnell

 

Was könnte das sein?

 

Hi, my Tab Key doesn't stop blinking when I start my Laptop. 5 Times very short, 4 Times very fast.

Slow Boot

This is a brand new laptop, and it has been slow from the get fo.  It originally had only 4gb if memory and windows 10 I know prefers more.  So we now have 16gb if memory but nothing has changed.  Very slow boot process, about 2 minutes and then another 2-3 minutes to boot into login prompt.

My laptop fails to boot with Virtualization enabled

I recently received this laptop from a family member who passed. I don't know much about it's history, although I do know it did come stock with Windows 7, and it no longer has a warranty. I updated it first to Windows 8.1, and then to Windows 10.

I needed to enable Virtualization on it. So, after going into the BIOS, I enabled the option and attempted to reboot the machine. Every time, it fails to turn on, and flashes the Caps Lock key twice, indicating some sort of BIOS error. 

I recently replaced the CMOS battery, and after removing it and holding the power button to reset the BIOS, it will boot normally, but without Virtualization enabled. 

I have tested this in both Windows 8.1 and in Windows 10, and both fail to boot, making me think it's most likely not an OS error. 

I'm unfortunately at a loss at this point. The BIOS is up to date as far as I can tell. I truly have never seen anything quite like this.

I appreciate any and all help that can be provided.

Computer Not Functioning - Caps Lock Light Blinks 3 times, then 2 times fast

I've had this issue for a year and a half. My notebook shut down one day and when I rebooted it the only thing that would happen is the caps lock button would blink 3 times, pause, then blink 2 times in quick succession before repeating the cycle. Over the last year and a half the notebook has gone back and forth between functioning doing this. I took it out three months ago and it booted up fine until I performed a restart to update my anti-virus, Instead of restarting, I got the blinking caps lock button.

 

I've read stuff about reseating the memory and have tried that to no avail.

 

I've taken it to a local repair shop in town several times. They speculated it might be a fried motherboard that would be worth more than the computer but had no answers when the laptop suddenly boots back up without issue. They're lost and so am I. What's wrong with my notebook?

hq tre 71025 tablet cmos

Hey!

My HP HQ TRE 71025 tablet has a startup problem.

I think the CMOS battery is a problem. The tablet only starts when the primary battery is 100% charged. Of course, it displays an error with a CMOS battery.

Is the main battery responsible for the CMOS battery? Is there another module responsible for this in the tablet?

System BIOS Update Cannot be Found on the HP Website

I could not find BIOS file (HP Notebook System BIOS Update) for the following mode on HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads: HP Notebook 14-cf0018ca. I have tried using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, but it did not contain any BIOS file. My device is equipped with intel processor.

HP Pavilion stuck in bios update

Hi there,

 

this will be a long message. I will try to explain as much as I can.

 

In the past couple of weeks, I received many blue screen of deaths on my 6 months old Pavilion 14-ce2304ng laptop. I took a look on this website for some solutions and realized, that I may have missed some Windows updates. Yes, that was the case. I created a system backup on my external hard drive and started to run every windows update. But then unfortunately, while windows was updating at 86% , I got an BSOD message. After restarting windows, I went to recovery settings to load my backup file. While restoring , my screen  started to flicker for some time then restarted it self with a warning, that there was no bios found on the machine. On the website for drivers and software, I downloaded the updated bios and installed it on a bootable USB, with the help of another PC. I followed the instruction videos from HP support and entered the bios updating screen. The bios updating process is still running on my computer for almost 3 hours, where process is stuck at10% (writing new bios image).

I am quite sure that I followed the instructions properly, and I am also sure that any interruption on bios updating process could lead to serious damages to the machine. Thats why I did not attempt to cancel the process.

 

Could anyone please help me how to proceed further? HP doesn’t provide help via phone on weekends, so I will leave the PC running until I became a proper advice.

My laptop is locked with ‘Enter Power On Password’. I don’t have that kind of password.

HP Envy x360 ED0023dx shuts off when not on adapter; on battery randomly shuts down

HP Envy x360 ED0023dx 

When plugged into adapter it works fine with no issues, when unplugged from adapter it will run about 4min then shuts down. This seems to be a known issue? Many others having similar problems? PC is new, adapter is HP which came with it. I have ran HP diagnostics and all passed, updated bios and drivers but still issue exists. Uninstalled API and battery adapter drivers from device management and seemed to work for a while then issue occurs randomly. disabled api etc, still issue persists. Reset computers OS back to default erasing profile, files, etc from recovery mode. While plugged in no issues when unplugged and just on battery and "battery is charged" it will work for a while and just shut off. ran component tests and all passed etc. It is not something loose either because while plugged in no issues. Why is this new laptop shutting off when on battery??

How to fix “Boot device not found”

My laptop was working perfectly yesterday but when I turned it on windows wouldn’t load. The entire black screen error says: “Boot device not found - Please install an operating system on your hard disk. - Hard Disk- (3F0) . I did system diagnostics and tried every test even the memory one and it passed every single one. I couldn’t contact a HP support agent cause my product’s warranty was expired... so that’s why I’m here I don’t understand why it’s so hard to get in contact with HP. Anyways the product number is 14-cm0012nr. I don’t know how to solve this so any advice on what to do would be good
