Laptop won't turn on if plugged in, screen goes black when plugged in

When my laptop is unplugged, it turns on okay and everything is alright. However the battery is so old that it only lasts for 5-10 minutes until it turns off.

When my laptop is plugged in, it turns on but the screen stays black. It's on; the power button is lit and it's whirring away. Sometimes the caps lock key flashes. Sometimes it shows part of the start up process and then goes black; sometimes I can even log on and get onto my laptop but the screen goes black within a couple minutes. Sometimes I can access the BIOS/system diagnostics/whatever it is. Sometimes when I turn it on it tells me it's detected that the battery is low or it overheated.

I just did a battery check and it told me it needed to be replaced which I'm not surprised about, but I really don't have the money to get a new battery. I'm sure that's the best option but if anyone could just suggest any way I could get it to work that would be so so appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

My laptop display SATA Port O    ST500LT012-1DG142                           LOCK. and at the top of the screen it displays Press (ESC) Abort Hard disk security.  please, have been with this problem since yesterday. someone please help provide a solution. Thanks

Forgotten startup passworg hp pavilion g7

I was asked to setup a startup password on an hp pavilipn g7 laptop. I was sure that I had done it correctly but the I keep getting an incorrect password message and ultimately a system disabled message with a code 60065191.
Is yhere a way to bypass or reset the startup password?

my daughter has done something to her laptop and now can't use the laptop at all. on powering up screen just says enter administrator password or power on password. she has forgotten the login password. is there a way to recover the computer.

i cant access my bios setup due to not knowinng the administrator password. my computer was hacked.. i think. i cant download anything anymore or open certain files because it says that idont have persmission. i checked into who the admin was via the comand prompt and it says that there are other admins like ADMIN$ and USER$ but being as though i cant get into the aministrator command prompt i cant change anything. please please help any ideas on what to do or how to access my bios setup would be greatly appriciated.

 

when i enter the wrong admin password i get System Disabled codes such as C48C26EF

Charge light flashes white/orange

I have 4 Elitebook 840 G1 laptops all showing the same issue. No matter what is done, the charge light flashes orange then white, going through this cycle once per second. I have removed all removeable hardware including; battery, WiFi card, H.D.D.  and disconnected the CMOS battery with no change. When I put the RAM and battery back in and plug the AC in (tried multiple power supplies) and leave it for a while, I can feel that the processor heat pipe (It is what I call the pipe that goes between the processor and the fan) gets warm . . . one might even say hot. The battery stays cool. The laptop heats up with just the RAM in as well. I have done the 'hold power button down for 30 seconds' process with no change. I would like to know if there is any hope for these units or am I better off stripping them for parts?

I need the master password to get in our HP MINI 1000. Havent used it in years and don't remember the old password! I tried this a year ago with no answers. Posted in the wrong place? Would really like to get this up and running so my son has something for now until i can buy a new one as promised for his hard work and good grades!

Spectre x360 Power And Battery Issues

Hi there.

 

Yesterday I had an issue with my Spectre 360 (purchased in May 2015).  Battery was low and shut down automatically before I could plug it in, and since plugging in, I cannot get it to power up.  The LED next to the power cord slot flashes 3 times, but nothing else shows any sign of life.

 

- I've tried holding down the power button for 15, 30 and 60 seconds then restarting

- I've changed the outlet but not yet tried another power cord - to be honest, the cord and plug into the laptop has never been great - I feel like it's a weakness in the laptop overall

 

Could i remove the battery (first opening the bottom  of the laptop, since it is non-removeable)  and see what happens if can make it work without the battery and only the power cord?  

 

Any suggestions most welcome - how will i know if its a motherboard issue?

I have a 

HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook - 15-ak010nr

I have run complete diagnostics and everything passes. I have reinstalled the os several times and still the same issue. I got the system up long enough to update to the latest BIOS version and still the same problem. Can someone please help me with a solution?

Hello everyone. This is my first time in these forums.

Some family member have me this computer, she said that it didn't work (and she was right). She gave it to me because my previous laptop got damaged in a hardware level.

When I got to turn on this computer, I got a splash screen as usual, with the HP I N S I D E logo on it and "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu" text. On the right side on the bottom there was a logo indicating this laptop is powered by a Insyde H20 BIOS firmware.

But it just gets stuck on there, I have also tried pressing the ESC key but it does nothing. I don't even get beep codes.

I have tried reseating the RAM and the hard drive but it didn't work. Any advice would be appreciated

Hp Elite x3 wifi won't turn on

I bought a new Hp Elite X3, and since the start i been facing this issue of Wifi not Turning on. Every time I try to turn on the Wifi " the mobile tells me either to restart, or try again later". Hotspot has the same porblem. Bluethoot  will also not turn on. I have performed a hard reset, also reset my mobile. I am at total lost about what to do?

Spectre X2 completes shutdown but machine stays on

Whenever I select Shutdown from Windows the shutdown screen appears, and the computer goes through the motions. Everything shuts down correctly from the software side of things, however the machine stays on. There is no way to confirm this other than having the keyboard attached and turning on the key backlight. The first time I realised it was happening was the battery was dead 2 times in a row after I'd shutdown the machine.

 

Now whenever I shut down the machine from Windows, I wait for it to go through the shutdown screen, then the screen turns off. I then hold the power button for ~5 seconds until it shuts off completely.

I know that Windows is not the problem, because there are no errors whenever I turn the computer on again. I have, however, noticed that there is a ~3-5 second delay compared to originally to bring the boot up screen up (black screen) since this issue has been happening. 

 

I have run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics System test, with all passes.

I have also run the UEFI System tests with all passes.

Windows is completely up to date, and HP Update manager has no further updates.

 

Possibly related? I have also been receiving random DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE blue screens when watching videos from roughly around the same time as the shutdown issue. Last night I had that BSOD every 5 or so minutes of running video (Plex, fullscreen). WIFI was disabled at the time. I checked drivers for my graphics and they were up to date.

My laptop/notebook will not power on

It's had problems for a long time. I just haven't had time to deal with it, but before, it used to power on, but always came up with some sort of error in a blue screen, then would restart and keep doing that.

Today I have gone to try and deal with it, and it just will not power on at all. So is that simply just a battery issue?

I believe it's a HP 255 G3 laptop/notebook.

I have deployed with sccm with windows 10 and encrypt the hard drive, but everytime that I restart the machine I have to type the recovery key, then I removed and try to create another recovery key and this is the message that I got when enable and restart
