HP Pavilion g6 Windows 8 - Constantly "refreshes" after sign in

I have an HP Pavilion g6 running Windows 8.  My warranty ended in October 2013.  I took and used my laptop on a trip recently, and I just turned it on since getting back.  Here's the play-by-play...

hp logo... little circling dots on the bottom... my normal first page, showing the clock, the date, and the internet and battery logos...  I tap the mouse pad, I get to my normal login page, complete with my personal photo... I type in my password... it's taking a while... "your account needs to update"... i'm getting the wonderful colors as my computer is "uploading apps" and "fixing a few things," suggesting that it thinks it's brand new and starting up for the first time... it's saying to NOT turn off the computer, so I don't... it completes this, and starts to load up the main Windows 8 app page...

and...

I see the Start on the top left; my name on the top right, along with the personal photo; and two apps:  Store and Desktop.

I see this for about 0.25 seconds.

Then the screen goes blue for about 4 seconds.

Then it repeats.... startup... blue... startup... blue.... FOREVER.

Now I've noticed that, for that 0.25 seconds, it does take some keyboard input.  But, it is fleeting.  I've also noticed that I can Ctrl-Alt-Delete and receive the Lock / Switch user / Sign out / Task Manager options, but none of these choices prove fruitful.

If you have had this problem and know how to fix it, I would love to hear from you.  If you are a computer whiz and know how to fix this, I would love to hear from you.  I need to know: if my computer is salvageable, if my data is retrievable, and if I can get my laptop back to normal.

I really don't have 300 to 500 bucks to spend at a computer store to fix my lap top.

However, I do have $50 bucks to give to you, my fellow empathizer and/or computer whiz.  Seriously.  I can send you some kind of transfer via PayPal, or send you an Amazon gift to your address, or whatever.  If this is an incredibly easy fix, then you got some easy cash, and congrats!  If this is a bit complicated and would cost more than $50 of your time, then I hope you can take pity on me in my situation and help me out.  I really need the information on my laptop soon, and I really can't afford to pay more than $50.  We can use this forum, or an email, or phone, all fine by me.

Fifty bucks.  I'm serious.

As I have typed this out, my laptop is still repeating... startup... blue...

Please help.  Thanks.

Rob
