HP Envy dv6t-7300 Quad Edition sometimes only boots with battery removed

I purchased an HP Envy dv6t-7300 Quad Edition with Windows 8 (now 8.1) this past summer, and after a couple of months, I began intermitttently having this problem. It wasn't that big of a deal, but now it's happening almost every other time I put my laptop to sleep!

The laptop seems to be running in good order when on, the battery has a long life, the laptop will run on battery, the battery charges just fine when the AC adapter is plugged in. However, oftentimes, when I shut my computer off or even just put it to sleep, it won't start up! The lights on the laptop turn on, the fan turns on, but the backlight to the screen and the screen remain blank and nothing happens.

If I turn the computer off by holding the power button, then I uplug the AC adapter and remove the battery, wait for a little bit, then plug in the adapter (leaving the battery out), the computer starts up just fine. It seems similar to what HP lists here, but it keeps happening repeatedly so I would like to figure out what is causing it so I don't keep having to reset my computer every time I put it to sleep.

Thanks!
