I have been having problems with my pavillion for some time, and I should have seen this coming. Recently my laptop has been locking up and forcing me to shut it down. When I go to power it up, I get a blank screen with all the power indicators but the hard disk wouldn't spin. There were no flashing or other blinking indicators. I thought I might have some BIOS issues because I have power up but no boot. I don't think anything is wrong with my memory and I have gone through the entire checklist for issues like this:
- removed the battery and powered on (blank screen)
- removed the battery and cycled power for more than 30 seconds (blank screen)
- removed CMOS battery and reinstalled it to reset/refresh the CMOS (blank screen)
- attached external monitor (blank screen)
l have not tested the CMOS battery but I suspect I might have a BIOS issue. I don't think this is something I am going to get fixed quickly and yes...it is not under warranty.
Help me. I really need to get my data. I missed my last back up.
