I installed win 8 on my pavilion dv-7-6c43cl when it first came out. It seemed unstable at that time and I never felt comfortable with it. When 8.1 came out I installed that and now I am having nothing but trouble. Outlook is now extremely unstable, crashing at least once a day and both Firefox and IE 11 are unstable and having problems with popups and random tabs opening up. It almost appears that I have a virus but I have also heard that this pc and some other HP laptops just aren't compatible with Win 8. Is there some diagnostic process or some known fix for these problems or should I just go back to Win 7, which is what was installed at the factory. I'm not sure if I have a backup disk for Win 7 but I probably do have it somewhere. I think the problem may be that HP has tried to make this machine into an HP machine instead of just resigning themselves to the fact that it is an HP shell with a wintel machine inside.
