Hi everyone, I am facing a wired, annoying problem with my less than one month old HP Pavilion 15-p029tx Notebook.
Sometimes, after pressing ‘Shut Down’, within 2 seconds screen turns black, but the notebook wouldn’t power down itself, i.e. fan and power lights will remain on always (once, I have waited for 1 hour; just like only the screen turned off & pc is not responding; occurs on both plugged in/battery power). Then I have to press power button for 5 seconds to turn off. On next start up it acts like restarting, i.e. takes longer time to boot and windows plays the start up sound.
This kind of wired issue doesn’t occur on every shut down. It happens probably once in two days of use. Sleep, hibernation works fine.
Notebook Configuration: Pavilion 15-p029tx; 4GB; Intel I3; Nvidia 2GB; Windows 8.1 x64 Single language; HDD 1TB. All latest Windows, Drivers from HP, Antivirus updates are installed. Pc is in good condition (Defragmented HDD, Registry, Ccleaner cleanup). Overheating not possible: I have cooling pad and the weather is little cold here.
Steps I have performed to solve the issue: Updated to latest Bios F.12; reset bios setting to default; performed all system diagnosis from bios, no error found. Today I have ran 10 test shutdown with different conditions, but it never happened during tests! Also all usb ports gives power during this freeze.
But I know, I would be forced to press and hold power button again within next two days.
Experts please help me to sort out the issue, its very annoying when I am in a hurry, pressed shut down, closed lid and next time when I pull out the notebook from bag, it would still running/out of power!
Sorry for my bad English.
