My notebook, a dv6, wouldn't boot up a few weeks ago on a road trip. I tried removing the battery and power supply, pressing the On button for 30+ seconds, reconnecting the power supply and turning on again. The Caps Lock key blinked at me and I could hear the fan start and the DVD mechanism click. That's as far as it went.
I went through the process a few more times with no luck. Eventually I left the computer running (fan noise and blinking lights) overnight. The next morning when I disconnected and started the process again it booted up. since then I haven't turned it off.
I went away this weekend, leaving the notebook in hibernation. When I returned it would not awaken. I went through the same processes again a number of times and eventually left it overnight with the fan on and lights blinking. The next morning I was able to reboot.
I'm wondering if my problem is temperature related. The notebook only seems to boot up when it's circuitry is warm from running all night.
Thanks
