My G72-26OUS Notebook laptop informed me that after 3 years my battery was failing. I ordered a new HP ion battery and put it in the laptop. I left it to charge....it did for a while and then the power light next to the plug insert started flashing orange....I have searched the manual and tried the battern check and looked for instructions on how to correctly charge the new battery...but have had little success. I have tried leaving it for a couple of hours. I have tried to re-boot in diagnostic mode and each time it says the battery is not working correctly. (Duh!!!) I don't know if I have a bad/new battery that won't hold a charge or...some other system failure. Before I take my laptop to CompUSA...does any one have any advice or suggestions to where I might look for step by step on how to check and fix the interface with the new battery or the correct steps to charge it. Thanks in advance. J (the new battery has been working enough for me to search...and post this...but the light is still blinking orange and the battery meter icon in the lower right of the screen is empty and not charging.)
