I have a DV4t-5100 I bought in 2012, Intel Core i5 processor with Nvidia GEforce GT 630m 2gb graphics. It has run fine until now. Today I accepted an HP update for something to do with the bios, which did not appear to install stating it needed administrator priveliges (which I had). I came back later to find the laptop with a blank screen and only the following lights on: Power button, wireless f12 key (orange), and the blue led power light on the right side next to the USB port. No other lights are on. At boot the fan comes on and a soft short whir from the right side, then it just sits blank with only the fan running. Hard reset does nothing. Holding down the Power Button to turn it off works, then it comes back on after 2-3 seconds. I am guessing the bios is in a bad state, but holding windows key and B then power does nothing different. Thanks for any ideas.
