One day I was updating my computer and now suddenly, I can't get much to work on it. All programs I try to open just say "So and so has stopped working". I try to check for solutions but then the box just goes away. It will open Chrome and paint. But it will not open Skype, steam, even photo view. When I try to open a photo it says: "COM Surrogate has stopped working". Under program details it says APPCRASH. Steam just wont plain open, it shows it spinning but then never opens.
I tried everything I can think of. Tried uninstalling the updates. Tried system restore. It said it couldn't access a file and couldn't restore. Did disk clean up. Disk check. Defragmented. Cleared up space. Deleted old programs I don't use.
I've looked up several troubleshooting things online and none work. The only thing I haven't tried is completely reinstalling Windows 7 as I don't have a disk. I bought this computer a couple of years ago at a rental place.
Any suggestions? I'm at wits end :( It just started doing it all of a sudden. There was no lead up or no problems before. The picture below is what box pops up when I try to open a program. Or sometimes it just randomly pops up for a program running in the background. Any suggestions???
