G61 will not power on

Can anybody help me out? My G61 will not power on. I switched it on and it gave me a black screen and a white light in the top left corner but wouldn't do anything else. I pulled the battery out and since then it will not switch on. When I connect the power lead it gives me a light where it plugs in but doesn't do anything else. I have done a hard reset but still get nothing.
I have a lot of important work on this laptop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
