My laptop's hard drive might be dying?

Lately for the past month, my laptop has started to become slower and slower. Now my laptop can barely go to the start screen and yesterday, it failed to boot at all. I tried to use the repair laptop option, but it states that one of the devices might be faulty. When I do not bring up the repairing option it makes it to the starting windows screen. However, it then reccomends a disk check. I tried to do that, but it freezes after stage 3. If I refuse to do the disk check, it freezes.  I do not know if this is either my hard drive, or overheating which is causing these problems.  Here is the information.

Product: HP Pavilion dv6-6188ca

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional

Repair Laptop Error Code: 0xc0000e9

Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured.

Changes: Downloaded a large EXE file.(30 GB)

I do not know what to do... I do not mind losing all of my data if necessary. Please help... I can not afford to buy another laptop. Thank you.
