Hey guys, How are you all today? Well I have a Compaq presario CQ61 that appears to be three years old and is out of warranty. The laptop was working perfectly fine on a rainy night when I decided it was time to hit the lights and fall asleep. I shut down the computer (not an imporoper shutdown) and I let it do its thing and it successfully turned off and I went to bed. The next morning I head on over to turn it on so I can use it before I leave school as I do every morning and strangley the monitor did not come on ( I had it plugged into an external monitor).

I opened the laptop and realized the screen was also blank and the wireless button is orange, the power button is solid white as normal and the fans are turned on with no sign of the HDD running or anything else. The Num Lock and Caps lock were blinking in a pattern I decided to look up on the HP website and it said that it was a CPU error (Blink Code 1). This was odd since I don't remember the laptop every being tamperd with exept for months before when I replaced the RAM successfully so I was perplexed. I attempted at a hard reset, removed the power adapter, even replaced the power adapter, and to no success. I decided to order a brand new AMD CPU that I knew for sure was compatible with the laptop and so I opened it up, removed the old CPU which looked fine but had dried up CPU thermal paste and I installed the new CPU and new thermal paste making sure the computer was connected properly and all connections were secured. Plugged the AC adapter in, the little outlet logo on top of the laptop port had a little led that indicated it was "Charging" but I don't have a battery but hey at least it works so I go ahead and cross my fingers and I push the button and to my surprise it had not worked.

Yes The RAM, was tested on another computer and fully compatible with the new CPU and I am just stumped. The computer was never opened exept for the part where I changed the CPU and there were no spills or anything of that matter exept the fact that it had a dead battery so its been plugged into AC power for 6 months at least. I found ironic the day it stopped working it was raining really bad here in Florida and I have a surge protector just incase so I honestly don't know what happened. Things I tried also included removing the CMOS battery, even replacing it, I even removed the wifi receiver and the phone modem circuit and still nothing. I appreciate anyones response that can tell me what happened to my once trusted laptop! Thanks Guys!

EDIT: I am also confused if it were truly a motherboard error because then wouldn't I be getting the blink code error 5 relating to General Motherboard faliure? I changed the CPU and its still not working **bleep**?
