Mouse Lag!!

I don't typically turn my computer off. I have found that after several hours the mouse starts lagging. It is more of a time issue than an application issue. I can work with many apps open. If I restart my computer then all is well. I have tried the diagnostic test and it works fine because I have to restart my computer to run it so the problem doesn't exist. I have tried several mice both HP and others and I have the same issue. I am using the proper mouse pad. I have all my windows and HP updates installed.  I am using Windows 10 on a Product name : 510-p050st desktop. I can live with the need to reboot my machine every so often but I fear is it could be a motherboard option.

I have been using HP computers for years and I have never run across this issue. Seems to me that as time passes that products should be improving and not getting worse.

Black screen and pointer after login

so all new hp omen 15-ce054nd works flawlessly. windows forces me to do updates via windows update and then when i boot i can login, but after the login my screen turns black with the pointer, i can open taskmanager with ctrl+alt+esc but if i for instance try to open explorer.exe with taskmanager, nothing happens. after a good 5 -10 minutes my desktop shows up and if i tried to open explorer the explorer window opens up at the same time i see my desktop appear.

i've done some troubleshooting and i am for certain that the problem gets caused by doing the update.

while doing these forced update's "HP Development Company, L.P. - System - 5/26/2017 12:00:00 AM - 6.0.21.1" this update failes every time. i've set my laptop to factory setting  a couple times now and i've tried averything i can think of . how do i solve this problem? because i cant stand these problems any more.

TL;DR:  after the windows update i can login but after logging in i get an black screen for about 10 minutes or so while normaly it doesn't take more then 14 seconds (i timed it)

Phantom(?) Startup-error 90B system-fan

i started to get this error message on startup, about the fan problem a couple of days ago, but it seems to be an error.

It's obvious to me that the laptop doesn't have a heat-problem, and the fan must be working.  According to Core Temp software, both cores are hanging out at 55C after playing online-poker for several hours.  I played five-videos and poker-client together, to get the temp to 67, and it immediately dropped when i closed the videos all at once.

The only reason this is a nuicance, is that sometimes i have to pawn the machine, and now the pawn-shop is not going to take it - so how can i clear this up?  I saw some clues that this could be bios-related, but i updated that, and have used software to check that other drivers up to date.

Bios password reset

Purchased an HP EliteBook 2570p from the city auctioning old public school laptops they weren't using anymore. The BIOS has a password and the IT staff there did not have a record of what it was. I researched online and it seems the only way to reset it is to receive an SMC.bin file from HP direct. Is this correct? Here is the product info from the tag:
Product: A1L17AV
Warranty: 3y3y0y

I attempted HP business chat support but it is saying:

"Unable to access the system at this time"

"We’re sorry, but an error has occurred and we are temporarily unable to access the system you are looking for at this time."

601 Battery Error Question

I have a Pavilion Laptop, I believe a dv 6 or 7 that is getting the 601 Battery error. I spoke with HP support already and for what they're saying it will cost to replace the internal battery, it's not worth it.

Since it's not my only laptop, what I was wondering is if I would be able to continue to use it as long as it is plugged into an outlet, or if eventually it will die on me? I haven't been able to find an answer to this question. If someone could clue me in, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Black screen with cursor for 5 minutes before desktop appears

Customer purchased 2 identical machines on 9/2/17.  Asked me to install Office 365, Eset AV, apply pending HP and M$ updates.  Removed McAfee LiveSafe trialware, installed Eset, O365, allowed HP to update BIOS and install newer versions of support tools.  Now one PC (these has SSDs for a disk) boots very nicely while the other comes to the login screen, accepts the password, does 10 seconds of the spinning balls, and then goes black with an active cursor.  ctl-alt-del will bring up the expected choices.  Task manager shows nothing running, no pegged CPU, zip.  Wait 5 minutes and the normal wallpaper and GUI appear.

Multiple runs of the HP Assitant show no new downloads required, both machines are on the same BIOS version (August 2017), no real differences in contents of Windows Event log.  Checking for Windows updates shows nothing new.

Any magic out there?

I've never seen a better A-B comparision of the apparent random nature of Windows 10 Home that this pair of machines.  Last month I had two Windows 10 machines, one laptop, one desktop, simply collapse software wise.  In both cases they ran Ubuntu from a Live CD perfectly and passed all the UEFI diagnostics but none of the repair options could bring Windows 10 back from the dead.  Finally wiped the disks and did a fresh install from a system DVD.

I've still got Windows 2000 machines, XP, Vista, and 7 that run better than 8, 8.1 or 10.  Doesn't seem to matter if the machine started with 7, 8, 8.1, or 10 - once they get to 10 it is all down hill.  Why?

Very very VERY long boot and shutdown times for a NVME SSD

I've bought a Pavlion Power 15-cb511tx just last week and I'm facing this exact issue detailed in another forum:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Gaming-Laptops/Y700-15ISK-Toshiba-XG3-NVMe-issue-with-Windows-10-Creators/td-p/3682443

It's a very long story but I'm in the same boat as him after swapping the internal HDD out for a Toshiba THNSN5512GPUK XG4 NVME SSD. TL;DR: I'm facing boot and times that are 4+ minutes and shutdown times of 15+ minutes on a NVME SSD!!!!!!!!

This only happens with the Windows 10 Creator's Update, so I've reverted to the Anniversary Update which everything is working fine for now. It is strange because it shows as 4 drives in the Creator's Update, not one. There seems to be other models being plague by thos issue and many seems to be fixed after a new BIOS.

I hope this can be resolved soon as I was so excited for this "non-gamer" looking laptop and even bought it the moment it became available in my region. It kinda sucks that this is what I'm stuck with bringing to university.

Windows does not start even after factory reset

$

Hi, a couple of weeks ago I started having problems with my laptop. Sometimes Windows gets frozen during startup when showing Windows logo. And when it manages to start after a while I either get a bloue screen, a black screen or laptop restarts alone.  However, I can start Windows in safe mode. I don't have even problems starting Windows in normal mode if I uninstall the Radeon graphics driver.

At the beginning I thought it was an overheating problem so I tried to clean the ventilation holes with air compressed and with a vacuum cleaner but no results. Anyway I can feel hot air coming out of the ventilation holes. I tried also to check memory, hard disk, video using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and it didn't find any problem. So finally I decided to do a factory reset, format hard disk and reinstall Windows but during the initial Windows start it freezes again. IS there anything else I can try or should I buy a new laptop?
