I have a Hp DV7t, 4100 series, product WW181AV Notebook. I currently have (2) 1Tb drives installed in it. The OS drive is now failing, bad blocks. I need to make a disk image of the failing drive for recovery before I loose more data. I want to install a 2Tb drive in the 2nd bay, and create the image on that. Then I will install the Image on a VM from there. Would anyone know if the BIOS will support the 2Tb drive in the 2nd drive bay? I went into the Bios and I cant tell from the available setings.

Laptop Windows 7 locks up when booting even after a hard reset. Anybody
Laptop locks up evrn after a hard reset. I suspect I downloaded a wrong processor driver. Even when booting up l have no access to F2, F8, F9 ,F10.
I can only let the computer boot normally. I tried Safe Mode but then you cannot run repair programs. Anyone out there who might have an idea. I live on an island and need a ferry to get anywhere but I cannot afford that on my low pension income. So please keep that in mind. Thank you in advance as this is my only way I can keep contact. I am almost 80 so I hope there is some assistance, Robert.

Boot Device Not Found, No Hard Drive Installed
The last time I used my device I left it in sleep mode and when I returned it would not restart, instead it told me that the boot device was not found and when I tried the hard drive check it said there was no hard drive installed. It won't restart and returning to default settings doesn't work. How do I get it to turn on and function normally?

I have a 6 year old G-62-364 DX which has been great. It has a motherboard problem which prevents bootup. It boots when I deliberately overheat it. Many other people have this symptom, and it occurs to me to ask if HP or this forum if any kind of investigation has been done to further narrow down where on the board likely connection problems are. And if I can do anything. I have held the motherboard in my hand and reassembled it with no problem - and no change in symptom.

Restart Issue on a HP Pavilion Laptop

Got this problem that's been going on a while that's really starting to get on my nerves because I have exams coming up (yes I know, probably shoulda taken care of it when it first started but...)
Basically, my system just randomly restarts. I have tried restoring it, updating my BIOS, turning off automatic restart... everything I can think of. Nothing is overheating, I can be on my computer for an hour and it would restart maybe five times, but then I could be on all day and it wouldn't restart once.
I would appreciate some help. I'm very close to factory resetting it at this stage, and if its all that can be done I'll do it, but as you can imagine, I'd rather not.
Any help at all is appreciated!!

Notebook 14-af180nr freezes constantly
I bought this laptop HP Notebook 14-af180nr (500 GB), back in August, just for simple tasks, email, instant messaging.
From day 1, it has been the crappiest little laptop I have ever owned. It freezes up on just about anything I do, but randomly and in different situations.
For instance, some days, I can sign on almost instantly to instant messenger, but the next time, it can take 20 minutes for it to decide to load.
Loading any pages can take 5-10 minutes before I can fully read an article of any type.
If I dare walk away for even a couple of minutes and it sits idle, I have to push the start button and shut down, because it simply will not resume.
Freezes range from the sign on at start up, loading email program, loading anything on the internet, loading programs, typing in Word...you name it, it freezes, stalls, takes forever to allow me to do anything!
As I said, this was from day 1, I didn't even add programs, talked to HP, they took me through steps to test the system, which cleared with no problems. They advised me to sign up and pay for HP Helper but I was hoping I could figure this out on my own.
I have virus protection, malware, etc, it all checks out ok.
i am just so frustrated with this, feel that they were such a good price because of the frustration rate!

I have just received my computer back from being serviced and I am having the same charging problem.
I am still having the same problem of not charging. I just received it back from being repaired and it is doing the same thing. I will not charge. I does not hold charge. I need this fixed. I have had problems from day one with this computer.

When waking laptop up after sleep, no bootable devices found/no OS found. I have to hold the power button to turn it off, when I turn it back on it's fine.
I have run CHKDSK and sfc /scannow after it happened and all came back clear, the laptop is around one month old. I had a BIOS update a few days ago but it was fine then, the issue started today.
Edit: I ran sfc /scannow this morning and it found and repaired errors, could this be it?

HP Pavilion x2 won't turn on or charge after running recommended updates
HP support recommended several updates. They installed and downloaded. I was prompted to restart the computer and since then the computer will not do anything. The screen is black, it is plugged in but the LED charging indicator light is not lit. I have tried the windows key + B (also tried windows key + V), and had to no success.

After rebooting/restarting my laptop.
it would proceed to screen with logo then buffer (Which is the normal step), But afterwards that, a black screen appears wherein with the brand logo but the buffering dots will keep rotating for almost half an hour, then screen itself will just stuck to blank screen with no display whatsoever yet the mouse cursur is displayed and can be hovered.. and it stays like that for hours and hours and hours...
This happened after my laptop receive a notification stating (Graphics Device Driver Erro Code 43). My laptop has two graphic drivers, Intel Graphocs HD and Nvidia GeForce. The Nvidia receive the error. So I searched online for solutions. I tried one stating.
(Go to Drive Control Panel, look for the Nvidia Driver, then right click choose uninstall, then right click on my Laptop icon then click scan for hardware changes. Then it was stated that the driver was suppose to reappear yet it didn't.. I got nervous so I stumble upon that my laptop has a HP Program regarding reinstalling Drivers I opened it and choose to reinstall the Nvidia Driver. Then when a notification came up stating that driver install complete please restart your device. And I did.. and that's where it all began and the blank screen where there is no display except for the mouse arrow cursor that can be hovered... please help...

Recovering encrypted drive
While trying to disable hp drive encryption, i reset the security settings to factory default in bios.on restart, it asked to accept or reject the changes which i accepted. Thereonafter, it doesnt recognize my password and doesnt let me through. I have tried using the hp drive encryption code but the usb flash containing drive encryption key doesnt show in the recovery dialog.
I have data on that hdd that i need very much. Kindly guide me out of this mess.

Hard drive check showed that there is no hdd seen by the bios.
Bought and installed a new hdd, bios can see it.
