BIOS issue on 11-n083sa please help me!!
HI all,
im in desperate need of help! just updated the laptop to windows 10 from 8.1, thought it would be a good idea to do the drivers and bios from the support page.
started with the bios, and now it doenst work!
it installed the new bios, rebooted, then nothing. apart from the power light being on and the fan running.
then tried the recovery method, windows key and b, it started recovery, went through the motions, rebooted, then nothing. back where i started.
then tried the USB method, i cant get that to boot at all.
please help,

My computer will not boot from the black screen
My Notebook will not boot from HP Logo black screen and when try to Press F9 OR F10 or F12; It does nothing. After several attempts it finallys boots up. I also had ran a diagnostic test and 7 things failed but it doesnt tell me what has failed and how to resolve it. I think my hard drive is failing.

Chromebook 14 is less than 7 months old and will not power up. I have tried a hard reboot (power, power/refresh, power/refresh/esc for 7 sec) Nothing works! The battery is internal so I cannot remove that. Any suggestions?

Random Lockups - Elitebook 8560w
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me diagnose this problem with my 8560W:
It randomly hard locks up - ie the mouse/keyboard input stop and music playback freezes - about 10 seconds later the machine turns right off.
I haven't noticed any pattern to when it does it - sometimes it'll go for a week with no problems, other times it'll freeze before the windows sign-in screen.
I've tried a fresh windows install (but have also seen the lockups in safe mode) so I don't think it's a bad driver issue.
There is nothing meaningful in event viewer
I suspected it might be an SSD failing - so tried another and had the same issues.
I've seen the lockups on battery, and with both the power adapters I have - also on AC with the battery removed.
I've run the built-in efi extensive diagnosis a few times - all passing completely.
I have cleaned out the heatsinks with compressed air - though they didn't look too bad. Keeping an eye on CPU temperatures - it does lock up some times when the temperatures are relatively low.
Something I've noticed (and I don't know if it's a red herring or not) is that the system fan tends to not spin as much as it used to - ie I don't notice hearing it. I've tried to roll back my BIOS - but haven't been able to - in Windows it tells me I can't go back, and in 'bios' it tells me it can't find the signature.
Any help at this point would be appreciated. I'd hate to have to throw the system out - it is still a very capable machine. Is there anything I can do to work out what is causing the freezes?

uncontrolled shutdown
I have a P6 laptop which abruply goes blank. No shutdown message, etc ... just abruptedly powers off. Restarting yields the standard Windows message that claims the computer did not shut down properly. I have also seen instances where the screen will develop many horizntal lines which seem to come and go by applying slight pressure to the display. The computer was repaired by HP for a broken hinge ... perhaps something is screwy with the repair? Things to check? I'm reasonably computer savy so not intimidated by opening up the PC. BTW, does not seem to be a thermal problem ... a few minutes ago, a full power off occurred and it had been running less than 5 minutes.

Hard Drive SMART Check: NOT INSTALLED?!
I have been using this computer almost daily, and the last few days I noticed that it had been running slowly and being rather noisy. This evening it would not boot and gave me some type of primary boot device error. I ran HP system diagnostics, and the machine is not recognizing that there is a hard drive installed.

Options missing from BIOS?
Hey, I recently fully reset my laptop to get rid of all the bloatware that was on it from the factory. When I went to reinstall my two linux distros that I run alongside Windows, I was presented with a new looking BIOS/Boot screen. It said press sex for start-up menu so I did. I looked in the settings but there was a lot missing and nothing like the old text based bios that was on the laptop before.
Does anyone know what's going on?
