Computer freezes during update

I have my computer for almost 2 years now and everytime it says its ready for an update, I click update and restart.  During this process, it goes to a screen thats restarting then goes to another screen that say Keep your computer on durinng the update (Something like that). I will let my computer go then when i come back in a hour it will still be stuck on installing update 2 out of 8. I can leave it like this for hourse at times and it still says installing update 2 out of 8. Is there anything i can do for this.
