I've had a HP G62 for two and a half years now.
After around 18 months it started crashing every time I tried to watch a video or listen to a song. I was told this might be a blocked fan problem so I took it apart, cleaned the fan and put it back together which fixed the problem for a while.
Six months after this I started to get warning screens every time I booted up the laptop saying that my cooling system wasn't operating correctly. I ignored them as my laptop appeared to be working fine. Two months ago, however, the original crashing/freezing/slowing down problem started occurring again and the fan stopped working altogether.
I've just taken the laptop apart again and the fan was clogged with dust so I replaced it with a new one which works fine, however the laptop still slows down to an unusuable speed upon opening more than one internet tab/program or watching a video etc.
I'm unsure as to whether this is a hardware problem as it doesn't seem to be the fan anymore, but maybe the overheating whilst the fan wasn't working has caused some internal damage? (even though it looked fine when I disassmbled it), or if it's a software problem and maybe my laptop needs restoring or something?
Can anyone offer any advice because I need the laptop urgently to complete my dissertation, thanks.
