So a nc6400 laptop that was used daily for light browsing the internet has stopped working suddenly upon being started for daily bootup. (as opposed to was dropped, or got wet, or other software or hardware changes)
Originally I thought it was completely dead, and run through the troubleshooting power steps in the service manual. However I realised that the battery light briefly comes on, and there is a buzzing sound.
(So I've reseated the power adapter, tried an alternative AC, alternative AC supply, tried with no battery, and tried resetting the machine by holding the power button)
After stripping it down to reseat the components, and restarting, I noticed that for a brief second, the wireless and mute lamps are also lit, before it goes dead.
Is there any documentation on troubleshooting a power short, or to identify why the machine is shutting down like that?
