I have a laptop that when i first power it on the screen remains blank and shuts off. Then it turns itself back on, cycling on and off repeatedly. However when i power it on then hit esc key once every second the computer will actually go to the HP setup screen with the options for bios, recovery, etc. After a minute it will actually boot up into windows.
Here are the specs.
HP pavilion dv6704nr
2 gb ddr2 ram
windows 7 home premium
1.9 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TK-57
Full product specs are located here.
I have tried the following to diagnose the problem:
-Removed HDD, optical drive, 1 stick of ram, wlan card and then tried to boot without hitting esc. did not work
-I let the pc cycle on and off by itself for about 10 minutes to see if it would turn on correctly
-I removed bios battery and left it out for about 10 minutes then put it back in
-Fresh install of windows 7
-Turned on pc with only power cord in
-Turned pc on with only battery in
-Changed bios settings to default
-Changed bios boot order to loading hard drive first
Again, the problem for my pc is that when i turn it on it cycles on and off unless i press the esc key once every second until the screen goes to the HP startup page. Then it boots into the OS.
Any help would be much appreciated. I hope that i included all the information needed.
