I have a Notebook, model number G6-2239dx which came with Windows 8. I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1. Now, not all the time, but often, when I restart, it locks right at the start of the boot. The HP logo shows and the circle of dots stays on the screen and doesn't go away.
I've tried cold and frigid reboots. Eventually, I get a message on the bottom of the screen that the notebook is in "repair mode" and it gives me the choice to try to reboot or to go to Advanced Startup.
The first time this happened, I did a refresh which took me back to day one. I applied all back Windows Updates and then installed a brand new Windows 8.1 Enterprise. I still have the same occasional lockups.
Since my rebuild, I have been able to eventually get the system loaded by trying restarts. But the lockup occurs at very inconvenient times (like when I am teaching Windows 8!).
I just updated five drivers from your website (the recommended ones). I hope this fixes the problem, but I would like any other opinions. Thank you.
