3x blinking LEDs hp pavilion dv7 3111ea

I am getting the same problem as in:

However, the proposed soluton there has not solved my problem (I've tried it twice).

On power-on, fan starts, dashboard lights come on, but I still getting the Caps Lock and Num Lock LEDs flashing 3x. Nothing else happens.

Any other ideas please?
