I've had this laptop since the end of August 2014. It was slow right out of the box. Tech support was little help and suggested that I needed an HP service called Smart Friends. At a cost that is an option I did not wish to incur with a laptop that was only 3 weeks old at the time. I've called tech support twice about this slow condition, They are beyond frustrating and annoying.
I created a repair/OS disk and restore point as one of my first orders of operations upon getting this laptop. Those have not helped. The purpose of this laptop is strictly for use when traveling which I have not done yet. I guess I might have a total of 5-6 hours of use on this machine. My HP desktop is my primary computer.
For instance, in MS config I have that to where only 3 vital items are checked and it still takes 75-80 seconds from power on to displaying the windows desktop. It takes 40 seconds to load control panel when clicked on, I get the blue wheel. I created one single 26kb word doc. When I click to open I get the blue wheel that it's opening the document. That's just wrong. I've spent more time troubleshooting this new laptop than using it for its intended purpose.
I've thought about safe mode or a clean boot. I should not have to. I've done a system restore and a clean install once already.
Programs loaded:
- Microsoft Security Essentials
- Office 2010 approximately 6 weeks after taking ownership.
- Malware Bytes
To reiterate, it was slow before I loaded any of those three programs on that laptop.
This is with or w/out being connected to the internet.
Would I need an original system disc if the one I created is simply a mirror of what may be going on?
Any clues that my search did not seem to yeild results about?
Thanks ...
Sid
