Hi, all!
I have a 5 year old Pavilion dv6 that I have decided to recondition as a Christmas present for my daughter.
The battery had died, so I've replaced that and started up the machine. All was well. I've also bought an SSD to make it a bit faster, so replaced that.
Whilst I was in the mood for taking bits of the laptop out, I thought I'd disassemble it and give it a thorough clean.
I did this, cleaning out a fair amount of gunk from the heat sink/fan assembly!
I put it all back together again, and now have a problem.
I get the HP boot screen, and when I press any of the F keys, it will say STARTUP MENU, BIOS MENU, BOOT DEVICE ORDER, but it doesn't do anything else.
If I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL within about 10 seconds, it will reboot. If I leave it longer, CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't do anything and I have to hold the power button.
I've put the old hard disk back in. Same result.
I have done the oft-mentioned hard reset.
I was using anti-static precautions.
Can anyone please shed any light?
Thank you in advance!
Phil
