Laptop won't turn on or charge

My laptop won't turn on when I press the power button. It also won't charge the battery. I have had this laptop for almost 2 years now an this is the first time I've has this problem. I have tried removing the battery and pressing the power button for 30 seconds. I'm not sure if I need to replace the battery.

My laptop is Windows 7 home premium.

How do I fix this problem?
