Can someone please help me. I have a HP Pavilion dv6426us Entertainment Notebook PC. At first it froze on Windows startup logo and even if I let it be overnight but it will not have any significant progress other than the startup logo. When I did a HDD self test on BOIS Diagnostics, it indicated error message "#1-07 fail". Then I replaced the HDD with a spare I had (WD2500bpvt) which is 250GB and try to install Windows 7 (fresh install) but also hangs on windows startup logo. BIOS Diagnostics also indicate the same error msg "#1-07 fail". At first I thought I had a SATA Controller or other hardware problems but when I put the new HDD on an enclosure and test it in another computer, it is working good. Then I used Hiren's Boot CD on the laptop just to check if it will boot. It worked well on the Linux Password Changer menu and other command based tools but when I try to load the Mini Windows Xp, it again hangs on windows startup. Seems like anything with graphics puts the laptop hanging. Is there a solution for this or do I have to replace the whole motherboard. It will be much appreciated if anyone can help even a bit.
