Hello
I have an HP ENVY 17 2101ea laptop, it is about 18 months old. It has worked fine to this point.
When using the Power saving GPU (Intel) the laptop works perfectly.
However when it switches to (or starts with) the Radeon GPU the CPU usage quickly builds up to and stays at 100% (fan starts to go crazy, the laptop heats up too) which means nothing then works. If I switch back to the Power saving GPU then all returns to normality.
I have swept the laptop for malware and none has been found, I have also cleaned out all the fans with compressed air.
My lay interpretation is that there must be something wrong with the Radeon GPU - do you agree and if so what can I do about it and how much is it likely to cost?
All help/suggestions gratefully received.
