Compaq Presario Screen Red Backgeound

My compaq Presario CQ60 laptop is experiencing the following issue

1) The programs, system works fine

2) When I turn it on the background turn red at the boot up screen, I can still read it and use it, and stays that way till it fully boots.

3) If I slowly close the screen the red will eventually go away. If I open and close the screen I can eventully get to a point where I can use it buts its getting worse.

With no red showing the screen looks fine.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
