I have a Pavilion Touchsmart laptop model 15-n071nr. I "upgraded" to Windows 8.1 about 6 months ago. Laptop appears to boot normally to login screen. After entering my password, my desktop picture will load, then the taskbar in bottom right will populate (Wifi, volume, battery, etc.). As soon as it is populated, screen will go black, then immediately re-load my desktop picture and start populating the task bar in lower right corner again. This will repeat endlessly. Must hold down power button to shut down. Went to HP Support troubleshooting website. Hard reset with battery removed had no affect. Went thru the F2 Bios diagnostics and everything passed: (there was no 'start-up test' per instructions) performed sytem quick test, memory quick test, processor test, hard drive quick test, system board test, wireless module test, and video memory test. Unable to remove RAM cover to re-seat memory. Have always used Norton's anti-virus software. Please advise.
