Laptop elitebook 2730p not turning on, charging light on

Hi,

I have a problem with my HP elitebook 2730p. When either the battery or AC power adapter is in (but not both at the same time), the charging light is on. This should not be the case.

When I try to turn the computer on, nothing happens. Does anyone know what this might mean? apart from it is dead. Does the charging light give me a symptom that I can use to fix the computer.
