Hello,
This is my first post.
I'd just like to mention that since Windows 8 has become more popular, I have had in the past 6 months over 5 Laptops and Notebooks to repair, all with similar Hard Drive issues.
The problem usually starts with the computer not booting and trying to repair it's self. But it fails and just loops.
Most of the time this becasue the Main Windows Partition has been lost (Become RAW)
Has any one else seen this?
The last HP Notebook (HP Pavilion TouchSmart 11) I repaired was in Warrenty and HP kindly sent me a replacement drive and a USB meadia recovery flash drive.
I now have yet another HP (HP Pavilion 15 - b115ea) and in this case the system could not boot or repair ETC and after recovering the data and trying several restore options, I had to delete all partions and start over fresh using Linux/Gparted.............
So in this case I have lost all the original partitions and have re-installed windows 8 but now Windows wants to activate?
How do I find the Product Code?
It's quite a shameful scenario that given the cost of these Laptops (Several Hundreds of pounds) that only a few months after the warranty expires, users are left with a use less piece of hard ware.
No Media
No Product Code (which the owner/buyer has purchased)
No Laptop...............
So in this case would HP expect the user to buy a new Laptop or pay for recovery media?
It's a case for Trading Standards either way?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Carl
