Pavillion that repeats shutting off and on with a black screen

I have a pavillion g6 and it was unplugged by my son; the pavillion has not worked since.  I turn it on and then it shows the cursor on the top left corner, then it shows the set up option where you can push escape on the bottom left, the screen goes black and then it keeps on repeating this.

I also think that there might be something wrong with the fan because it gets really hot
