Windows 8.1 Installation Error Code 0xC1900101 - 0x40017

Over the last few weeks I've been having multiple issues with my HP Envy 15t-j000 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC. It all started when I was playing a video game on Steam and on Skype at the same time. I had a BSoD error that read KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. The system re-booted and everything seemed fine. Then, a short time later I got the BSoD error SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (clvwd.sys) so I checked to see if the Cyberlink drivers were corrupt but they seemed fine. I checked every single driver on the computer, but everything seemed up to date. I then ran a Memory Diagnostics test to see if the RAM was failing, but that all checked out too. I then discovered an older antivirus software I had on the computer was turned on (so I had 2 AV softwares running simultaneously) and, realizing that this might be causing the problem, tried to uninstall it. That didn't work either, as every time I would try to open the task manager or control panel to computer would completely freeze up. Finally, I decided to do a complete System Reset to delete all 3rd party software at an attempt to fix these problems. It seemed to work, and runs Windows 8 fine. However, any time I try and update to Windows 8.1, I get the error message SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (aswNdisFlt.sys). I am unaware of any problems Avast antivirus software would have with the computer, but even when I deleted it and tried to uninstall from a 'clean boot' mode, it still displays 0xC1900101 - 0x40017. If anyone had any knowledge on how to fix this that would be greatly appreciated.
