HP Development Company, L.P. - System - 11/19/2017 12:00:00 AM - 7.0.1.1 Update Issue

Like many other users, the above HP update appeared in my Windows Update requiring a restart. I restart my system which then locks up & I get the familiar blue screen with just my mouse arrow visible. Then the only workaround which will allow me to recover my system without data loss is running System Restore. Then when I come back to my laptop later on, same thing - computer locks up and I have to run system restore again, creating this maddening circular problem.

So far, these are the steps i've tried -

- Cleaned out junk files with CCleaner

- Ran Advanced System Care 11 to clean up registry files/errors

- Ran Driver Booster 5 & downloaded all available driver updates

- Ran Intel Driver & Support Assistant (with results saying updates are incompatible with my system)

- Ran Windows Update Troubleshooter

- Ran Windows 'Hide updates' Troubleshooter

- Ran HP Support Assistant and a/ dowloaded available updates & b/ ran the OS System Check module

None of the above steps worked. Like others, I found that the above update had already previously successfully downloaded to my system, yet continues to appear. From reading HP and other forums, as far as I can see HP are blaming Microsoft, and Microsoft are blaming HP, creating another circular argument. No wonder this serious stuff up has been unresolved since February! HP and Microsoft should stop blaming each other, work it out and deploy a patch urgently, or else HP's brand will be damaged and they will start losing customers.

Any advice which doesn't involve re-loading Windows and losing years of data would be most appreciated.
