I have a HP Pavilion g6-2239dx with Windows 7 and Arch Linux installed (with kernel 3.14.12-1-lts). I have been using this setup for quite a while now, but recently (a few months ago) it started hanging/locking up regularly.
I first thought this was a Linux video driver problem (as I could not see anything moving on the screen, so I thought the driver crashed, and I also had other problems with my video driver in the past. I also rarely used Windows, so I didn't know that had a problem either) I tried using the Sysrq REISUB trick to get it to reboot, but it didn't work so I just did a hard reset. I later tried pressing the capslock key while it was hung, and found that it did not change state of the LED, so it must be a kernel or hardware problem. After this became a frequent occurrance (around 7 times a day) I started using Windows more. But while using Windows, I found the problem still exists (Still no capslock, so I believe it to be a HW problem now)
This gets really annoying at times, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
