I have a Pavilion g6-1d21dx notebook, product number B9P54UA, that crashes whenever it tries to go into sleep or hibernation mode. When it tries to sleep or hibernate the screen goes black but the Wi-Fi and power lights stay on. It freezes up in that state either until I force it to turn off by holding down the power button or until it eventually shuts off on its own. In both cases when I turn on the computer again I get an error message saying that Windows didn't shut down normally. This is extremely annoying because it always tries to hibernate when the battery runs low, and of course I lose any unsaved data.
While I'm venting, I'd also like to ask why Microsoft and HP still haven't come up with a way to help users fix problems with hibernation/sleep modes automatically. These problems seem way too common and they create strong negative feelings about the products involved. Also, if you hit the escape key when a computer starts to hibernate or sleep, it should halt the process and allow you to save your data and shut down manually. Please! It's almost 2014!
Sorry for venting, and thanks in advance for any help!
