Yesterday I was being an idiot and had my laptop sitting on my bed on a blanket, essentially blocking the fan. I didn't realize how long it had been sitting there like that until my PC shut off and informed me of a thermal shut down.

I immediately set it on my lap top desk and tried to restart it. This is what happened: I press the power button, it goes to the screen with the hp logo in the center and the little loading dots going in a circle like it usually does when I turn it on. It stays on that screen for about 15 to 20 seconds until taking me to another screen (light blue color) with a frowny face and the following text: "You're PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart it for you." Under the text, new text appears, but I'm unable to read what it says because within literally a second the screen goes black and then the screen with the hp logo appears and the process starts over again.

I thought maybe I just needed to give it a rest, so I left it alone for the rest of the night and tried it again this afternoon ... same thing happened. I just tried it again a few minutes ago ... still happening. I've tried looking up what to do but can't seem to fine any answers. Can someone here help me?

P.S. This is the first time I've had a thermal shut down with this computer. I've had it for a little over two years.
