Pavilion G6 freezes after downgrade and chipset driver added

I have a HP Pavilion G6 2240 sa notebook.

I decided to format the hard drive, which I did by removing it and placing it in an external HDD enclosure. I did a quick format to NTFS.

I placed it back into the G6 and ran setup. I decided to run windows 7 ultimate as I have that disk and my wife uses it. I prefer it anyway.

I knew it would be a little complicated. But anyway, I selected Legacy Boot in BIOS and ran windows 7. Everything worked fine. Most of the drivers I found from the HP site worked, but I had some trouble with the wireless adapter, the bluetooth and the chipset. Eventually I got the right drivers for wireless and then for Bluetooth and card reader. The last thing was the chipset(which showed up as USB controller, SM BUS controller and unknown device and PCI device, after trying several, I eventually found one that worked and all the drivers for new hardware were listed as installed correctly.

I restarted as requested, and then, I could not get passed the 'starting windows' screen. It hangs and freezes there. This only happened after installing the (final) chipset AMD drivers, the ones that seeingly worked? Can you help?

I am just currently trying a system restore, to go back before the last driver I installed which was HD driveguard(I think). I'll see if that makes a difference and report back.

EDIT: I can now confirm that the HD driveguard driver seems to have been the problem. Does anyone know what driver I shoul install for the final hardware(unknown device)? to make the installation complete?
