I've had my Envy TS m7-j020dx laptop since last November.
I was interested in using it for playing a couple online games when I'm at work. I play at the lowest settings possible and have gotten really good results so far.
The problem I am having is starting about a month or so ago the fan will kick on and the laptop performance will slow down "considerably".
In-game I am usually getting 60-100fps from the graphics with network speeds of 25ms.
Starting in the last month or two every 5-10 minutes the fan will kick into overdrive and the graphics will drop to 2fps. At the same time the sound gets very garbled. This lasts for approximately 10 seconds and then everything goes back to normal.
I was playing games on my older HP laptop without problems, even though this laptop doesn't have dedicated graphics card it more than exceeds the minimum recommendations for playing the games I do.
Another problem I am having is the HP Simplepass has not worked since just after I bought it. My old laptop had the Simplepass fingerprint reader on it and that was one of the biggest reasons I bought this laptop was because of that.
I have checked the drivers and software updates and everything was up to date last time I checked couple weeks ago. But still having these repetitive performance issues.
Please note, it doesn't appear like the laptop is overheating. I have run virus scanners etc and found nothing. My last laptop used to burn my leg when I sat on the couch because it got so hot. This laptop doesn't do the same, in fact it is quite cool and quiet.
