I've had this laptop since 2011 for school usage (given by the scohol). It has been broken before due to the hard disk, and it was fixed eventually.
Now this problem has occured recently. The laptop turns on, shows the booting screen with the HP logo, then turns to a black screen and remains in that state. It also restarts the laptop over a period of time, and so it repeats.
I have not tried anything to fix it (yet), but the laptop will most likely be handed in to get repaired at school. But for now, I am willing to try methods of fixing the problem before handing it in.
The laptop is protected by an admin for any relevance.
