I have an HP Pavilion dm4-3170se (Beats Edition) machine that was activated August 2012. It has been in continuous use since activation and is up-to-date on all Windows updates. I've been experiencing the following problem since about March 2014: The machine boots without issue. After about 30 minutes (actuall 29 minutes, 50 seconds per Task Manager) the machine shuts down without warning. During the subsequent restart, a screen reports that machine was not successfully shut down. It then continues and successfully completes the start sequence without any additional messages. The machine will then continue to run for another 30 minutes but then, without warning, shuts down again. Per my research, this seems to be a problem that others have experienced.
Additional info: I find that when I start the machine and allow it to run WITHOUT starting any utilities (e.g., Task Manager) or applications (e.g., MS Office), the machine will stay on past the 30 minutes threshhold. After the 30 minues has past, I then can (sometimes) use the machine for hours without any issues.
I have run battery and memory diagnostics. The do not show any issues / problems.
Here is my machine's system information:
