Hi all, and thank you for your kind attention.
I've a 6720s laptop, using 2GB ram with 2 modules 1GB, all works ok. Recently I bought 2 modules 2GB Elpida PC2-6400 666 800MHz and when I installed them and used RamTest to test the RAM after one seconds after the beginning the screen become "corrupted" displaying wrong chars everywhere and system became frozen. It indicates clearly that the BIOS is not able to configure propely the RAMs and allow the software to write wrongly into the Video RAM protected RAM (that actually is shared with the system RAM).
I have updated the BIOS to the most recent version, F.0D but nothing changed, same results. Then I bought a couple of othe modules, Patriot PSD22G6672S, 2GB PC2-5300 555 and the result is exactly the same.
The modules work in single mode, supported perfectly by Motherboard and perfect stability, I tested all the 4 modules bought and in both slots, all is ok. The problem appear only when they are put together in dual channel. I also tried to mix them, 1 Elpida and 1 Patriot, with same result.
I'm asking HP how to overcome this problem, since Chipset GL960 is able to address 4 GB then the problem shuld be with BIOS. Do you have an edited version of bios which allows me to set the RAM timings or reduce the Video memory? Actually the shared video memory is 384MB which has no sense since I'm using laptop only for 2D applications (not gaming).
Waiting for your kind prompt answer, thank you!
