Hi,
So, I have a g60-237NR laptop. It originally had Vista on it, but I got it used and a couple years later the hard drive died. It sat for maybe a year or so, then I got a new hard drive and windows 7 install disks, so now I'm running windows 7. That was at least 2 years ago, and I got a new battery maybe a year and a half ago.
But, as of late, my computer keeps randomly freezing and then crashing. A blue screen appears with white words on it, and I never have enough time to read it all. The computer then restarts itself. Half the time Windows Explorer crashes and has to restart("explorer.exe has stopped working"), and sometimes it won't restart and I have to restart with the power button.
In Windows action center, I get a message saying something like Windows was temporarily unable to access the hard drive. It says that it's usually not a big deal, but that it might mean the hard drive is failing(and I've read that the g60-237NR is especially rough on hard drives).
I checked BIOS, and the I've got diagnostic log error codes with times that seem to match when it crashes, but all the codes are 0601. I looked up the code and it said it's a battery issue, but that doesn't make much sense to me since several of the times it crashed it was plugged in. I ran the hard disk test, and after a while it said "Hard disk test fail", and gave me error code 0305.
I disabled hibernation on my computer, and that seemed to help a little(I had this wierd thing where I had to close the screen and re open it to get my login screen to appear, and it would often freeze after that), but now it's randomly crashing again. I'm pretty stuck on how to fix it, any advice anyone could give would be great, because if my hard drive is going to die again it woudl be nice to know that before it happens. Thanks!
